Missions, Outreach and Social Action Committee
2010 Annual Report
The purpose of the Committee is to provide updates to and encourage participation by parish members in initiatives related to missions
(local and foreign), outreach and social action. In 2010:
- A member of this Committee became the church's contact for The Primate's World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF),
ensuring there were PWRDF envelopes in each pew and supplies and posters in the building. As well, members of this Committee attended a reception held June 14th at Cathedral Hall to welcome Suzanne Rumsey, a PWRDF staff member, at one of her many stops as she cycled from Halifax to Montreal to support PWRDF.
- This Committee continues to provide financial assistance to missionaries serving at home and abroad.
- This summer, members of this Committee participated in a meeting organized by Wilmot United Church at which representatives from several downtown churches met to discuss how best to meet the needs of the people living in the city's downtown area.
- This Committee took the lead in organizing our church's initial participation in Love Fredericton, held on June 12. This is an annual event where members of our congregation joined other churches in the city, to hand out free products or to offer free services/assistance to everyone they encountered on that day; as a practical way "to love the people of our City into a relationship with Jesus Christ".
- A member of this Committee is the designated Vestry representative on the Parish Activities Committee.
