Capt. Rob Langmaid, community chaplin at the Northern Gateway Community Chaplaincy in The Pas, Manitoba, sends the following update for the spring:
March was an amazing adventure. I spent 17 days doing a course in Greece and Turkey as part of my Master of Ministry with St. Stephen University. Some of the highlights included gaining new insight into the New Testament, visiting cave churches and underground cities in Cappadocia, taking a cruise through the Greek Islands and exploring the wonders of Athens.
During April my primary excitement was getting back up to speed with everything I had missed in The Pas in the 18 days I was away. The weather warmed up while I was away, thus, making it so that more people came out to the kitchen each morning and more people to visit with in the afternoons. As the month continued I had many enjoyable social gatherings with my friends. The last week of April was spent in Edmonton where I spoke at St. Paul's Anglican which has supported the chaplaincy in The Pas for the last 10 years. It has been an enjoyable week.
In other news Church Army has just had a name change. As a result, I have a new email address rob.langmaid at thresholdministries.ca If you would like to receive monthly updates from me please send me an email to this address and let me know, also if you could update me on your life that would be appreciated.

Mission/Outreach Tidbit
The communication of the Evangel in its fullness to every person world-wide is a mandate of the Lord Jesus Christ to his community. There is no biblical dichotomy between the Word spoken and the Word made visible in the lives of God's people. People will look as they listen and what they see must be one with what they hear. The Christian community must chatter, discuss and proclaim the Gospel; it must express the Gospel in its life as the new society, in its sacrificial service to others as a genuine expression of God's love, in its prophetic exposing and opposing of all demonic forces that deny the lordship of Christ and keep people less than fully human, in its pursuit of justice for all people, in its responsible and caring trusteeship of God's creation and resources.
- affirmed by church leaders from Latin America at the 1974 Lausanne Congress (as quoted in I Believe in the Church by David Watson, Hodder & Stoughton, 1978, page 301)
