Threshold Ministries (formerly Church Army) Updates

Capt. Rob Langmaid is Evangelist-in-Charge of the Anglican parishes of Watson Lake, Dease Lake and Telegraph Creek, Yukon. His new home phone number is 867 536-2932 and new address is Box 15, Watson Lake, YT, Y0A 1C0. Rob would like to hear from you. He sends the following update:
This past quarter has been a very exciting one. Monica came to visit me the first weekend in July which was very exciting, I greatly enjoyed spending the weekend with her. Much of my time in July was spent in summer camp ministry; 2 weeks at Hidden Lake Bible camp which is near Watson Lake and a third week was spent at Braeburn Lake Christian Camp. I greatly enjoy camp ministry.
August was also a very exciting month including travelling the furthest north I have ever been to the Klondike, Dawson City 64 degrees north. This trip was for the Bishop's School of Yukon Ministry, which was a very enjoyable event where I increased my knowledge of the parables, as well I got to know many of the other people involved in Anglican ministry in the Yukon. August also included the Watson Lake reunion which was a very busy week of community events here in town. One highlight was the Discovery Day parade in which the Church's float won first place. Following the Watson Lake Reunion I travelled to New Brunswick, meeting Monica on the way to Cape Pele, then on to Keswick so that Monica could meet my family and some of my friends. It was a very enjoyable trip where we had a great deal of fun. Very shortly after our trip ended Monica and her parents drove to Watson Lake so that Monica could start her life here. I am very excited about her living in Watson Lake, I also enjoyed spending time with her parents before they headed back to the farm.
September was an extremely busy month, including a trip to Vancouver Island for a conference called Stronger Together held at Camp Columbia. This was a gathering of Diocesan and Synod level youth workers from across Canada with the Anglican Church of Canada and the Evangelic Lutheran Church in Canada. September was also busy with various organizations around town returning from summer hiatus. Youth Group continues to go well, and I have seen more numerical growth in the congregation here in Watson Lake. During September we had double digit congregation numbers every week - I am pleased with that.
Now for the most exciting part of this quarter which I have left until the end. Monica and I got engaged September 4th so much of this month has also been working on wedding plans. We are getting married January 28th in Morinville, Alberta which is near Edmonton, we will also be having a summer renewal of vows and reception in Fredericton. The date is still up in the air.

Mission/Outreach Tidbit

What is the greatest obstacle to God's mission in the world? It is not other religions or a resistant culture. Our idolatry is the single biggest obstacle to world mission. We are a scandal, a stumbling block to the mission of God. Reformation is the desperate need of our day, and it must start with us. If we want to change the world, we must first change our world.
- Christopher Wright, international director for Langham Partnership/John Stott Ministries, speaking to the Third Lausanne Congress, Cape Town, South Africa, October, 2010
